Challenge: A complex product catalog and the need for integration
Before the start of the project, LEMIT had extensive product catalogs with hundreds of items and accompanying photos. One of the first challenges was organizing and migrating the entire catalog to the new web platform. It was necessary to consolidate all product information (names, descriptions, specifications) and ensure high-quality images for each item. This process required careful planning of product categories and attributes to make the online store clear, intuitive, and easy to navigate.
An even greater challenge was synchronizing data between the website and the company’s existing ERP system. LEMIT wanted stock levels and product prices on the website to always be up to date and fully aligned with the internal warehouse status and business system. Without proper integration, there was a risk of showing outdated information to customers (e.g., a product being sold out or its price having changed), which would harm the user experience and lead to operational inconsistencies. Therefore, it was crucial to find a solution for automatic, bidirectional data exchange between the WordPress platform and the ERP, eliminating the need for manual updates and minimizing the risk of errors.
Solution: WordPress e-commerce with real-time ERP integration
To meet the client’s requirements, we developed a completely new WordPress website with an integrated WooCommerce platform for online sales. Our solution was tailored to the specific needs of LEMIT’s business, combining an intuitive site design with a powerful backend that connects multiple systems.
Catalog Migration and Optimization:
The entire LEMIT product assortment was successfully migrated to the new platform. The product category structure was carefully planned to enable customers to quickly find what they are looking for. Each product includes a detailed description, technical specifications, and high-quality images. Special attention was given to optimizing images and content for faster page loading and improved SEO visibility.
Real-Time ERP Integration:
We implemented a custom module that connects WordPress with LEMIT’s ERP system. Through a secure API connection, stock levels and product prices are automatically synchronized every minute. This real-time synchronization ensures that the online store always displays accurate information. When a product is sold or its price changes in the ERP, the update is reflected on the website within one minute. This eliminates the need for manual data entry and significantly reduces the risk of human error.
Custom Plugin for Related Products:
To enhance the sale of complementary items, we developed a custom WordPress plugin for multidirectional related products. This means that when two products are linked as related items (e.g., adhesive and tiles, or a tool and its consumables), the connection automatically works both ways. A customer viewing product A will see product B in the “Related Products” section, and vice versa—product A will be displayed on the product B page. This functionality improves the shopping experience by helping customers easily discover additional items that go together, while giving LEMIT the opportunity to increase the average order value.
